How to make 600 cups of plunger coffee

At 5:30am on a warm, summer morning I am driving a van full of hot water and a bunch of other utensils en-route Wellington's annual bike breakfast. The goal? - to make coffee for 600 caffeine hungry cyclists in under 2 hours.

Behold our new website - Come on in!

Over the last year we have had loads of comments from people about our website. Some glowing, but also quite a few that struggled to use our webshop, or easily read the site. So.....after much deliberation we are proud to present Peoples Coffee 2009 for your interacting pleasure.

While blogs are a dime a dozen, one of the things I have always liked about my favorite websites is that they are fresh, engaging and constantly changing. Myself and the staff at Peoples Coffee are not graphic design gurus and IT specialists (apart from one) and hence will be using this simple homepage blog to keep you informed and invigorated about your favorite coffee roasters.

Since starting Peoples Coffee in 2004, there are two main aspects of the business to which I keep returning;

- The coffee. High quality, freshly roasted, entirely Fair Trade and Organic third party certified.

- The coffee producers. Their lives and stories are something that never cease to invigorate our company. Annual visits with Trade Aid like the one our roaster Rene went on in January give a huge amount of inspiration and I see this as an important part of Peoples Coffee - telling the coffee grower's stories.

Over the next few weeks on the blog we will be introducing the new elements of this site such as: 'one-click' ordering, new products in the shop like the Chemex, the 'Shout Out' widget and the new faces and stories of growers we have been meeting.

While I will always get my two cents worth in, you will also be hearing from other Peoples Coffee staff and the coffee world from their perspective. I think its going to be fun and informative!

Don't be alarmed about the new, hand stamped coffee bags, our new 250 gram range will be out mid to late August. In the meantime enjoy the 'once-offness' of the plain bags - maybe they might become something of a collectors item.

Lastly thanks. Thanks for your support of Peoples Coffee and of fairer trade for coffee producers all over the world - we really appreciate it.

Matt
